At 9pm Friday The Griffin Police, and Georgia State Patrol units responded to fights as individuals were leaving the Griffin High School Talent Show at the Griffin Auditorium. 

Griffin Police, Georgia State Patrol and Sheriffs Department unites were called to the intersection of South 6th Street and West Taylor Street Friday night when. Several fights broke out in the crowd that was leaving the Griffin High School Talent Show at Griffin Auditorium. Griffin police officers and two state troopers began dispersing the crowd.  Cpl. Willie Neal was breaking up fights at John’s Petro and dispersing the crowd at that location. As he walked by a Chevrolet Caprice, he observed Steven Montrell Lemons, 17 years old, holding a Hi-Point .380 in his lap. Cpl. Neal ordered Lemons to drop the firearm, but it took multiple requests and the threat of deadly force before Lemons would comply. Steven Lemons and the other passengers in the car, Dontrell Mangham and Lamar Evans, were taken into custody. They were taken to the Police Department and Evans was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18.
