Pre-School Registration Announced

 

The Griffin-Spalding County School System will hold Pre-Kindergarten registration the week of March 1-5. Registration will be held in each elementary school from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To participate, children must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2010 and must be a resident of Georgia. 

Georgia’s Pre-K Program is a state lottery funded educational program. The purpose of Georgia’s Pre-K Program is to prepare children for success in Kindergarten and later school years.

In order to register a child the parent must provide the following documentation: 

1. Certificate of Birth showing that the child will be 4 years old by September 1, 2010.
    

2. Certificate of Immunization, Georgia Form 3231. (The certificate must have the “Completed for School Attendance” marked or Date of Expiration and a copy of a follow-up doctor’s appointment in order to register.)
    

3. Certificate of Eye, Ear and Dental Examination, Georgia Form 330. (The certificate must have all 3 areas completed and signed by the examining health care professional. The Eye and Ear portions must have “Passed” marked in each of the two areas or another categories marked and a copy of a follow up doctor’s appointment.  The Dental portion must have Normal Appearance marked or another categories marked and a copy of a follow up doctor’s appointment.)
    

4. A copy of the child’s Social Security Card.
    

5. Two forms of residency verification in Spalding County within the school’s attendance zone. (Cell phone bills will not be accepted)

Classes of 20 students will be formed by drawing names of the students with completed registration information. The remaining names of the students with completed registration information will be added to the school’s waiting list in the order they are drawn. Parent will receive letters of notification by the end of March. 

            Moore and Crescent Elementary have 1 Pre-K class each. Anne St., Atkinson, Beaverbrook, Cowan Road, Futral Road, Jackson Road, Jordan Hill, Moreland Road and Orrs Elementary Schools have 2 Pre-K classes per school.
