 A Total of 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater overflowed into a tributary in the Cabin Creek Basin. the incident occurred between the hours of 11:50 AM and 12:30 AM the cause of the spill was grease and rags.  In the instance of the overflow the Cit of Griffin Water and Wastewater Division is following all Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division  (EPD) requirements in regards to evaluating additional repairs that may be needed.  In addition the City of Griffin Water Department will monitor stream conditions and issue public notices as needed.   The city monitors 220 miles of sewer lines carrying sewerage to four wastewater treatment plants.  The City asks the public for assistance in reporting any potential sewer overflow or maintenance problems the may see in he city, to assure a timely response and proper assessment and correction from the city staff.  You may contact the city of Griffin Water and Wastewater Division at 770-229-6603.
