A new author has
indicated a Solution to High Oil Prices: Break OPEC’s Control.
The record oil prices
have now led to record prices for gas at the pump, Dr. Robert Zubrin says
that OPEC is to blame and the way to beat them is to break their monopoly by
creating fuel choice on a global scale.
Zubrin stated The way
to do it is to require that all new cars sold in the United States be flex
fuel vehicles that can run on any combination of gasoline, ethanol or
methanol. The technology is readily available and it only costs about $100
per vehicle.
Around the world,
gasoline would be forced to compete at the pump against alcohol fuels made
from any number of sources, including not only crops like corn and sugar,
but cellulosic ethanol made from crop residues and weeds, as well as
methanol, which can be made from any kind of biomass as well as coal,
natural gas, and recycled urban trash.
