The Griffin
Police Department, in cooperation with the Pike County Sheriff’s
Department and the Spalding County Sheriff’s Department, has
arrested four men and one woman in connection with a series of
automobiles being illegally entered through out Griffin.
The Griffin Police Department’s Crime
Suppression Unit (CSU) developed several leads while investigating
several Entering Auto cases including some in the Audubon Circle and
Westchester Drive areas. One of these leads was the discovery of a
stolen 1.5-carat diamond ring at a local tanning salon that was taken
from a victim’s vehicle on Audubon Circle. These leads developed into
suspects which resulted in a search warrant being executed at 271
Bendview Drive in unincorporated Spalding County. During the search, a
quantity of marijuana and a stolen 12-gauge shotgun were recovered.
According to Lt. Tony Thomason of the
Griffin PD CSU, “Our leads led us to seek out the assistance of the
Pike County and Spalding County Sheriffs’ Departments. When we
executed the warrant, we conducted a joint operation with the Spalding
County Special Operations Unit.” Thomason continued by stating how
appreciative he was of the joint agency assistance.
